Fed: Environment minister labels report flawed

The federal government says criticism of its stance on tree clearing in Queensland
is flawed and inaccurate.

A report released today by The Australia Institute has called on the government to
compensate Queensland farmers who stop land clearing.

Report author Dr CLIVE HAMILTON says Environment Minister ROBERT HILL should release
up to $100 million from the $400 million greenhouse gas reduction fund agreed between
the government and the Australian Democrats as part of the GST deal.
